Welcome to the Witches Kitchen. By Professional Chef Lucy Martire.

When I was a kid, my mom got real creative with how she allowed us to satisfy our sweet tooth. My siblings and I were entirely unaware of this and for the better part of our childhood believed that a popsicle was a banana on a stick that my mother covered in gooey peanut butter, drizzled with honey, rolled in wheat germ and then froze. It was divine, and still is.

I do believe that these thoughtful tricks of hers paved the way for what I find myself doing most now in my life. Finding creative and delicious ways to incorporate high nutrient dense foods into every meal that I make...and for that matter every snack, sweet treat and beverage.

It is my understanding that the intention of a true kitchen witch is to use the kitchen as an apothecary. Medicine and healing are mixed up into every meal. I find great joy and satisfaction by following in the footsteps of this magical lineage. I also thoroughly enjoy adding my own, unique twist (which usually involves going to town on the superfood quotient of anything I make). So when I reimagined the banana popsicle of my childhood I started with the basics: banana, peanut butter and then included raw avocado honey, ground flaxseeds, hemp seeds, chia seeds and maldon sea salt flakes.

I cannot over stress just how delicious, satiating and simple this treat is. Not to mention how many good omega fatty acids, protein, enzymes and potassium the popsicle delivers.
